Al Richard and Mike Divita's Giant Ferris Wheel

Mike writes: "Last winter I helped Al Richard construct the 1927 Giant Ferris Wheel at his house (the one with the 64 "DV" girders). The wheel itself is 61" in diameter and on its base is about 6' high. The 5/16" main shaft spins on bronze bearings mounted between the 2 "BB's" one each side and is so balanced that a 50-cent piece will move the wheel. We used a urethane rubber belt for driving it and it runs like a champ. It contains 250 "C", 48 EX, 64 DV, 80 DP,32 S plus many more parts."
