Hylton Smith's Meccano Nickel and Blue-Gold Models

Hylton writes: "Here are two models in the pre-war blue-gold colour scheme as was available in the UK from 1934 to 1940 until the war stopped production in England. This colour scheme was not for export. The fire engine and the army lorry have always been timeless models and are part of my collection.

Meccano started out as MECHANICS MADE EASY in 1901 until the name Meccano was patented a few years later. All parts were produced in nickel until 1926 when Frank Hornby introduced his first red and green colours. Here is an example of the lovely nickel period, a truck in typical open construction of the period and is in my permanent collection."
