Hylton Smith's Meccano Walking Robot

Hylton writes: "Here we have another example of that popular subject, namely walking robots in the various systems. We have seen this one before from the pre-war Meccano manual size 8, but I have made a few changes , namely in the consruction of the arms to avoid bending flexible plates and replaced the sprocket drive with heavy duty drive bands for smoother and quieter operation. The head is also constructed differently. The model is powered by a Meccano 20 volt 'cricket ball' crackle black motor from the 1950's. This model becomes part of my permanent collection."
